The County Assembly Committee on Labour and Public Service Administration has suspended the ongoing recruitment of Administrative Assistants III, noting that the process is inconsistent with the spirit of the Village Administration Act enacted one year and four months ago.

Instead, the Committee has directed the County Executive Committee Member(CECM) in charge of Serikali Mtaani to comply with the provisions of the Act and initiate a competitive recruitment process for Village Administrators.

In a meeting held today with the Mombasa County Public Service Board, the Committee led by Chairperson Hon. Jacktone Madialo reviewed the status of the ongoing recruitment of Village Administrators and Administrative Assistants III.

The Committee also expressed concern that unscrupulous individuals are moving around villages, impersonating Village Administrators and extorting money from unsuspecting residents.

To protect the public and safeguard the integrity of the process, the Committee resolved to halt the recruitment exercise for Administrative Assistants III pending further consultations and clear policy direction.

Hon. Madialo underscored the need for close collaboration between the Board and the Assembly to ensure a transparent, credible, and seamless recruitment process.

The meeting was also attended by the Board's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fadhili Maamun, and other Board members.
