The County Assembly has today adjourned for a long recess until 10th February 2026, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 25(3) and in line with the Assembly Calendar.
In his remarks, Hon. Athman Mwamwiri noted that the recess period will provide Members of the County Assembly with an opportunity to interact with their electorates, listen to their concerns, and gather insights on issues affecting them. He emphasized that such engagements are essential in enabling Members to serve their constituents more effectively once the House resumes.
Hon. Mwamwiri further expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their continued dedication to supporting citizens and extended appreciation to the office of the Speaker Hon. Aharub Ebrahim Khatri for facilitating the Assemblyβs recent participation in the 6th edition of the County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) 2025 games and cultural festival held in Meru County. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Hon. Mohamed Hamid, who recently lost his father, wishing him comfort and strength during this difficult time.
During the sitting, several key documents were formally laid on the Table of the House. These included:
1. The Report of the Auditor-General on the Mombasa County Consolidated Revolving Fund for the year ended 30th June 2025,
2. The Report on the Vetting of Mr. Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy as the nominee for the position of County Executive Committee Member for Blue Economy, Agriculture and Livestock, and
3. The Report on the Vetting of Mr. Jonathan Wepukhulu as the nominee for the position of County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Administration, Youth, Gender and Sports.
The Auditor-Generalβs report was committed to the County Public Investments and Accounts Committee, while the vetting reports were referred to the Committee on Appointments for further deliberations.
